Springfield PDP Defender The pistol retains its originalThis was part of Springfield's earlier "PDP" (Professional Defensive Pistol or similar factory compensated) line, often referred to as the Defender PDP or 1911 Defender PDP. These were factory compensated 1911s with a ported barrel compensator setup to reduce muzzle rise and improve follow up shots, popular in that era for competition or defensive use before compensators fell out of mainstream favor.
