The Hive could easily be an Ancient Ziggurat, and the others often end up as overkill once they hit the board
Cards that fail: characters with triggered abilities that require another specific named card, high-cost characters with no built-in protection in a color with no cheap support, items or actions that enhance characters you might not have
As long as the player pays his seven-mana summoning cost, they'll be able to hit their opponents with his 10,000 Needle attack
Those are all great ways to sift the sands as it were, but there dont seem to be many subjective lists that go over what makes an incredibly cool or interesting card
As such, they have the same strengths: Eithers great in an enchantress list or a list that can recur permanents, and neither really belongs unless a deck can do those things
