Somewhere along the way two of the carved pegs on this old board were lost

but also for the line work of the hair

and two bouquets of flowers on reverse

I was drawn to it immediately for the naive manner of the embroidered portrait with this funny little bunch of cherries hanging over head, and then the person who sold it to me pointed out that he thought it was meant to represented George Washington, with the cherries a reference to his cherry tree, which made me love it more.
