I believe this lacquered bamboo box dates to the earlyish 20th century

This one is Polygonatum Giganteum

The paint decoration is original to it and just gorgeous (makes me think of early 19th c

making for fun comparisons

and many many years on it that have turned it a dark

Small 1928 Snapshot, Arms and Legs and Tree Trunks Chicago worlds fair I believe this lacquered bambooI really love this little snapshot for the play of all those bare arms and legs, with tree trunks separating each young woman from the next like punctuation. It appears they are wearing uniforms marked with an "H" perhaps runners on a track team taking their reward of an end of practice dip. 2 1 2 x 1 11 16 and in good condition. Dated July 31, 1928 on reverse.
