Each shade is cast and fired individually, giving natural variations in form, size, and colour that make every piece unique. For the colored versions, the first layer of white porcelain is poured out early and replaced with a tinted clay. This gives the shade its light ochre or warm umber exterior. The white version stays slightly translucent
