I think this piece probably dates from the 1990s or so

with a great old well worn matte gray painted surface

with a little wear to the finish here and there

it's an old stair baluster into which little faces were carved on both sides of one end

Both I know were found in the Sartre region, and both done on watermarked laid paper, which date them to about 1810. I love a good hand, whether drawn or carved or otherwise, and this finely rendered, softly cupped hand seems as if forever on the verge of grasping something.
